Support

Dear members,

Due to the recent extremely heavy traffic on our server, we kindly request that you do not watch the movies by streaming them on-line. Please, DOWNLOAD the movie clip first on your computer, and THEN watch them from your computer. That way you'll help prevent clogging the server, and also save yourselves money. We are charged for the number of connections to the server, and those charges are and always will be reflected in the fees you pay for your membership. Please, help us (and yourselves) to keep the fee at the current low level. Thank you for understanding. D4B Team

A suggestion: Should anyone experience difficulties with keeping our films stored on their hard drives for any reason whatsoever, please consider purchasing an external memory device, which can be disconnected from your PC at any time and can be stored in a safe place (e.g. extrenal memory cards, flash drives, external hard drives, CDs/DVDs – all very affordable these days).

General Download Instructions

To replay the videos without a problem, you need to follow some basics:
  1. You need hardware with enough processor speed and enough RAM.
  2. Windows XP or later with Windows Media Player version 9 or later.
  3. Codecs for DviX format, or the complete DviX player including the appropriate codecs. RealPlayer with appropriate codecs is an alternative to Dvix. (For instructions how to download codecs, please check our "Support" page.)
  4. Click on the Dvix or RealMedia icon and choose to download/save on your HD.

Players, Codecs, Video Formats:

  1. DivX format (higher quality) is ideal for users with faster connection. You can dowload the necessary codecs hereIf you already have DivX codecs intalled, you will be able to play the videos in your Windows Media Player as well.
The Dvix player for Mac including the codecs can be found here.
  2. In case of slower connection speed, Real media format is aviable for download offering smaller size for slightly lower quality. The player with appropriate codecs can be found here.
  3. The videos are not streamed due to high bandwith demands it would put on us. You can either download them (by right clicking on the appropriate format and chosing Save as... in most browsers, then picking desired location on a disc), or run them in an associated player (see player download instructions above). The file will then be downloaded to your disk, which will take a while (usually 1-10 minutes, depending on your internet connection).
  4. Windows Media Components for QuickTime has been highly optimized for Power Mac G4 and G5 and Intel computers, and they support playback of high-definition Windows Media video files.

Information for the LINUX Operating System users:

LINUX is compatible with our site and its downloadable material. All you need to do is download REAL Player for LINUX, or if you prefer DivX format, download matching DivX drivers for LINUX. (Those drivers are a part of Win32 Codec Pack.)

Problems with renewed subscriptions and/or log-ins:

We hear from several subscribers that after they had re-subscribed, the log-in window pops up with every page they want to open (or file they want to download). Often, they complain that their old log-in name and password automatically show up in the log-in window regardless of the fact that they overwrote them with a new log-in name and password.

Although we always take such a complaint seriously and go and check the particular client's login and his path, we almost always find out that the login works flawlessly on our side. In addition, we also know from several of our clients (especially from those who use Vista OS) that their problem was solved by simply deleting all the cookies from their computers (through their browser, be it Internet Explorer 7.0, Mozilla, or Safari). The old log-ins and passwords stored as cookies on your machines effectively tend to overwrite your new log-in and password. That is a problem we cannot solve for you, you have to do it on your individual machine (machines).

However, if the problem persists even after you‘ve cleaned up the cookies on your computer, please, contact us and we'll try to help. Do not forget to explain your problem in detail, also provide the basic info about your membership (when you signed up, if your renewed your subscription, or you are a newbie), your operating system and the browser you are using (incl. its version).

Again, we can only check that everything is correct on our side. If that is the case, then your problem has to do with your system and you'll have to fix it with the provider of your software/OS.

We highly recommend that you do the following:
  1. Remove ALL temporary files and folders from your Temporary Internet Files
  2. Remove ALL the cookies from your system
  3. Remove the URLs from the history of the visited web sites
  4. Remove all the stored data from forms (if you ever used the "automatic" fill-in forms feature on IE).
  5. MOST IMPORTANTLY: Remove ALL the passwords saved in your computer memory.

To do so, do the following (in Internet Explorer 7.0): Tools > Internet Options > Browsing History/Delete > Delete All. We recommend that you restart the computer after you deleted the items indicated here in 1.-5. (They can also be deleted one at a time if that is something you prefer.)

Useful Tips for Downloading/Playing Our Videos:

As for your downloading issues: You should be able to download, save on your disc, and replay as many videos as you wish (suppose you have enough space on your hard disc to store them). There are technically two ways of watching our videos - by so called "streaming", and by "downloading" them and replaying from your hard disc. The former is highly unstable and not recommended for several reasons. First, you have to always be connected to the Internet to watch them. Secondly, you need a stable and fast connection, otherwise the buffering will not work and the videos will be "jerky",or will stop playing for several seconds every now and then. Thirdly, by doing so (=streaming), you slow down our server for other users to be able to effectively download the movies. As you can imagine, if a few more clients did the same at the same time, there is a risk of making our server collapse, thus losing any chance to watch any movie till the problem is fixed on our side. It might take a few days then. These are the reasons why we always encourage our clients NOT to streamline the videos, and instead DOWNLOAD them.

Downloading has its big advantages: You save the video on your hard disc, so you really (not virtually) own them and have an access to them any time you wish. Moreover, you don't need to be connected to the Internet in order to replay them, over and over again. Also, the replaying will be stable and smooth because it won't rely on the connectivity of the Internet and its speed. Finally, it will avoid the problem with jamming or cluttering the resources on our server.

When you try to download, please open the page with the new video and its accompanying gallery. RIGHT CLICK once on the image of the video (always the first and largest one on the page in the left upper corner). At the pop up menu, left click once on SAVE TARGET AS. A new window should pop up with your computer's folder management, saying on top SAVE AS (the same window opens whenever you want to save anything on your computer, e.g. an image from a gallery, or a letter you are typing in Word, etc.). Chose, which folder you want the video to be saved in for the later replay, and click SAVE. That's all. The video will then download (it may take anywhere between a few minutes to 30 mins depending on the size of the file and the speed of your Internet connection). After it's downloaded, go to that folder where you saved it, double click on the video file, and Windows Media should automatically open and start playing the video.

For Mac Users Only (G3 or Higher):

Downloading our videos on a Mac works the same way as it works on a PC. The only difference is that on PC, you right-click on the video link and then left-click on SAVE LINK AS... which will open your folder windows and let you choose which folder you want to save it in, while on a Mac (G3 and higher), you right-click (if you use the mouse, or Ctrl+click without a mouse) on the video link and then left-click (or click, if you don't use a mouse) on SAVE LINK AS. The rest is the same again as on PC (see above). If your G4 opens the video directly in streaming, you either don't click on SAVE LINK AS, or you have to change your settings for saving commands in your Mac System Preferences.

Additional Advice for Mac Users:

In order to play the Divx movies on Mac or on Windows platform, you need to download the most recent codecs for either player. Mind you, the AVI files are not native files for either of the players available these days, their advantage is that they play across the platforms, the disadvantage is that they do not always conform with any player due to the way the video and audio "tracks" are mixed into one channel. Hence codecs for respective movie players which do the job of decoding the AVI file properly for each respective player. Codecs are available for free from many web sides on the net (please, google codecs for particular mac players).

The other option is to download our vids in RealPlayer format (RM extention). Simply right click on the REAL icon instead on DivX icon, and left click on "Save Link". RealPlayer for Mac is available free from the Net.

One more comment: Sometimes, you may wrongly try to STREAMLINE ("play on the go") the movie instead of DOWNLOADING it on your HD. If you get a Q on your screen after clicking on the movie icon, it means exactly that. The movie is buffering (it may take long minutes sometimes depending on the traffic on the Internet at the particular moment), you get frustrated because you don't see any progress, and you assume your vid is therefore not running. It IS - it is buffering, but in the end you'll only be able to play it once that way because it is not DOWNLOADING on your HD. Please, RIGHT click on the icon (DivX or Real, whichever format you choose), and then click on SAVE LINK. That's the only way to download/save the video on your HD for replaying.

We have many Mac clients and they have no problem downloading our vids. We suggest you check your Mac settings, also make sure you have the most recent codecs for replaying AVI formats, should that be your preference over RM format.
